Good to tell the juf in the first week.
For parents
What your child learns today
The six words of this week, with a picture for each: hallo, dag, goedemorgen, ik, jij and de juf. Your child hears Sanne, looks, points and repeats.
How you can help
- Play โwijs maarโ: say one of the words and let your child point at the right picture.
- Swap roles: your child says the word, you point. Get it wrong on purpose. Children love correcting you.
- Use ik and jij all day: โIk heb een appel. Jij hebt een appel!โ
| hallo | hah-LOH | hello | |
| dag | dahkh | bye | |
| goedemorgen | KHOO-duh-mor-khuh | good morning | |
| ik | ik | I, me | |
| jij | yay | you | |
| de juf | duh yuf | the teacher (female) |
Children call their teacher juf (female) or meester (male), without a name. โJuf, mag ikโฆ?โ is the most used sentence in any Dutch classroom.
